YOUR MISSION:
We are seeking a senior candidate to join the development team responsible for creating a 3D bioprinter designed for microgravity environments, to be deployed on the ISS and future space stations. The ideal candidate must have a strong systemic understanding of the project so he can manage the assembly, integration, and testing of a 3D bioprinter and other projects. In addition to hands-on technical work, they must handle supplier management, write, and execute test procedures, and assist in mechanical and electrical design aspects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, systems knowledge, and collaboration skills.
YOUR TASKS:
- Responsible for assembly, integration and tests of electromechanical hardware used for microgravity experiments.
- Write and execute test procedures and reports.
- Research and engage with external test facilities and suppliers.
- Responsible for the production and testing of 3D-printed components.
- Partially responsible for organizing laboratory tools, parts, and components.
- Provide support for requirement management and verification.
- Contribute to systems definition and design decisions.
- Support the design of a microgravity 3D bioprinter system including experiments dishes, fluidic systems, and thermal control systems.
- Support definition/conducting analyses for thermal and structural loads of space experiments in all mission phases (transport, launch, on orbit, return).
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best performance for the overall system.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Between 5 to 8 years of experience in related fields.
- Experience in Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of space systems.
- Familiarity with space standards, especially ECSS and SSP.
- Understanding of documentation relevant to AIT during all phases of a project.
- Not afraid of using tool (hammer, drill, file, milling machine…) for small adjustments.
- Skilled in using MS Office.
- Strong team player.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Comfortable taking on responsibility.
- Adaptable to high levels of uncertainty.
- Practical mindset with a focus on execution.
- Low ego and empathetic toward colleagues.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar is a plus.
- Proficiency in German is a plus.
