Our client manages the sourcing, trading, marketing and distribution of industrial raw materials. Their expertise puts them in a unique position to meet the
growing demand for materials essential to the renewable energy transition.
As the business expands, our client is now looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer who loves solving complex business and technical problems, with a data driven mindset and a high level of intellectual curiosity, to join their Information Systems Platform Evolution / L3 Support team.
The candidate will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to internal process optimisation/automation initiatives, which will have a
notable impact on business as the company continues to grow.
The Software Engineer will work closely with the Development Manager, Solution Architect product controllers, logistics, and the applications development team to create and maintain new applications designed to optimise procedures around the month-end closing process, day to day position/P&L/inventory management, in addition to logistics activities such as invoicing or managing service costs.
To succeed in the role, the candidate must leverage their extensive experience to deliver high quality solutions as part of the development project portfolio.
The role:
- Enhance and maintain a large estate of applications, adding automation and optimisation features, ensuring the business is running efficiently
- Develop and implement fixes and improvements to in-house developed systems
- Develop and implement system components that are periphery to the trading transaction processing systems, while ensuring that the right policies, release procedures, architecture and quality standards are met
- Work with a range of project participants to understand requirements, provide technical design, estimate and develop new code in an Agile environment
- Create unit and integration tests, and perform initial testing before passing over for QA
Candidate experience:
- The candidate must be very strong technically with a wide range of experience/knowledge on how enterprise web and backend applications are built using Microsoft technologies
- Ideally have solid experience using Azure technologies, including web apps, databases, Azure Functions, Data Lake, Service Bus, Event Grid, etc.
- Ideally will have worked closely with technical architects to originate technical design for system features and components
- Ideally will have worked in environments with robust unit testing standards
- Preferably will have worked in physical trading and logistics organisations
Essential technical skills set:
- C#, ASP.Net, .NET Core, React, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Relational database experience, SQL, stored procedures, etc
- Strong ETL design and data processing skills
- Technical design
- RESTAPI
- Unit testing
- Integration testing
- Git
The following ares are preferred or nice to have:
- Experience working In Agile development teams
- Experience working with Azure DevOps
- Azure build pipelines
- Local NuGet and NPM repositories
- Exploratory data analysis
Candidates with experience in commodities trading, operations, risk management and financial accounting will enjoy the challenges that our client provides.
